Century Club Fishing Day
Over the past year, CTU has achieved some important victories Ð from adoption of a cooperative river conservation plan for the South Platte, to the landmark bypass flow victory in federal district court, to the successful first-ever CTU kids conservation camp held in partnership with the Boy Scouts. These accomplishments Ð and all of our other work on habitat improvement, native trout restoration, water quality, and more Ð were made possible through the generous support of our donors.
As a small way of saying Òthank youÓ to our dedicated Century Club members, CTU hosted the 2004 Century Club Fishing Day, on Sunday, August 29 on the exclusive waters of Arrowhead Ranch Fly Fishing. The fishing day offered Century Club members and their guests the chance to meet CTU leaders and other supporters, along with the opportunity to enjoy a day of quality fishing on private waters.
Arrowhead Ranch offers a variety of fishing opportunities spread over its 3,000 acre property. The ranch includes four large lakes Ð South Lake (3.5 acres), the Upper Trophy Lake (5.5 acres), Lower Trophy Lake (4 acres), and East Lake (10 acres) with great opportunities for angling both from shore or using a float tube. The lakes have a healthy mix of rainbow and brown trout, including some trophy-sized fish.
Arrowhead also offers 7 miles of the meandering South Fork South Platte river, flowing over cobble bottom runs and riffles and through beautiful willow thickets with healthy banks. Beaver activity has also created some excellent, deep holding water for large and wily brown trout. Each year, dozens of fish in the 20-30 inch range are caught and occasionally even a lunker over 30 inches. As Southwest Fly Fishing Magazine reported, Arrowhead Ranch offers Òarguably some of the best wild trophy brown trout fishing in the state.Ó
