Morning Star Lanyard

When shopping for a fishing vest, my criteria were simpleÑI wanted one with lots of pockets and hooks and an easy-to-reach fly patch. I found what I was looking for, and now I can spend an entire day on the water without ever making the trek to my truck. Why, thereÕs even a pocket in the back big enough for a sandwich and couple of cokes! ItÕs a great vest.

Trouble is, I can count on one hand the number of times IÕve spent the entire day on the water! At least not in the same spot. Most of the time IÕll camp out in a stream for an hour or so and then hop in the truck and head to a fresh spot. The truth is, I donÕt always need a fully-loaded vest. In spite of how handy it isÑand how cool it looksÑa vest can get heavy and cumbersome after a long day of fishing. And does anyone ever eat a sandwich standing in the river? Not me.

Which leads me to my point. A lanyard is a very nice alternative to a vest. Much more efficient and handy than I first expected. All of your most frequently used tools are right at your fingertips, and when you add a small chest pack, you have everything you need for a good day of fishing. And if youÕre going to use a lanyard, you might as well use one thatÕs as good looking as it is practical. Morningstar has come up with the perfect fit.

The Morning Star Lanyard has several features that make it a great tool. It comes with the standard 5 swivels for accessories, as well as a stainless steel clip to secure it to your shirt or vest. And it all comes on a heavy-duty steel cable to resist corrosion. Around the neck is a comfortable nylon neckband, and beneath it, a quick release safety latch that breaks away if you get hung up. A nice feature for those of us just clumsy enough to fall out of a boat, or get hung up on a branch while fetching a snagged fly out of a tree.

The lanyard also comes with a retractor, a neoprene fly patch, and a tippet spool holder. And the handcrafted bead design makes it stylish enough to wear to dinner when youÕre through fishing! This is a very nice lanyard for an extremely reasonable price of $28.95.

Morning Star also carries a full line of accessories on their website, making it a one-stop shop for all your lanyard needs. You can contact them at  www.mslanyards.com. Or call and ask for  Lynda at 208-232-7510.
