Scott president and rod designer, Jim Bartschi, went well outside of the conventional sources to find the unique carbon fiber utilized in the G2 design. The overall modulus of the carbon used has remained unchanged, though a finer ply was used in the construction of the series, which results in the rods being among the absolute lightest on the market. Though the tapers and feel are all new, the natural un-sanded finish and look are a distinctly similar homage to the unique appearance of the original. Colorado grown Burled Box Elder Wood reel seat inserts and beautifully anodized aluminum hardware finish off the new look. The essence of these rods is that they not only cast and present the fly with greater finesse than faster action rods, but also that they roll cast and mend in a manner that allows the angler much greater range in his moment-to-moment manipulations of the fly on the water. The ability of the G2 to turn over a longer leader and protect light tippet from the surges of large fish is truly remarkable as well. Special thought was also given to the rods overall toughness, and in hundreds of days of on the water testing, the rods just donÕt break. For those of us that so often find ourselves nymphing or streamer fishing in our days on the water, the rods are still plenty powerful enough to handle these important tasks with ease. Fans of fast action rods would be wise to give this new rod a cast or two as well. While in no way is this rod considered fast, the versatility of a softer rod is hard to argue with in the right application. Think of it as adding another tool to your toolbox. One can never have enough tools, and having the right tool for the job is priceless!
